The SBR Wastewater Treatment System (Sequencing Batch Reactor) is an advanced biological treatment process designed to remove organic pollutants, nitrogen, phosphorus, and suspended solids from municipal and industrial wastewater. Unlike conventional continuous-flow treatment plants, an SBR system completes equalization, aeration, sedimentation, and discharge within a single reactor, eliminating the need for multiple separate tanks.

An SBR treatment cycle consists of five automated stages that repeat continuously.
Wastewater enters the reactor where it mixes with activated sludge. Depending on the treatment strategy, aeration may begin immediately or remain off to promote biological denitrification.
Air blowers supply oxygen to microorganisms, allowing them to biodegrade organic pollutants while converting ammonia into nitrate through nitrification. Process parameters are automatically adjusted to maximize treatment efficiency.
Aeration stops, allowing activated sludge to settle naturally at the bottom of the reactor. Clear treated water forms above the sludge blanket without requiring a separate clarifier.
A floating decanter gently removes the clarified effluent while minimizing disturbance to the settled sludge.
The system prepares for the next treatment cycle. Excess sludge can be discharged during this stage, and operational settings can be adjusted based on influent conditions.
This fully automated sequencing process ensures consistent water quality while minimizing operator intervention.
