Our MBBR (Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor) packaged wastewater treatment plant is a fully integrated, plug-and-play solution engineered for reliable municipal, industrial, and commercial sewage treatment. Combining advanced biological treatment, lamella sedimentation, multi-media filtration, and UV disinfection inside a single compact unit, this system delivers precise, stable effluent quality while minimizing footprint, labor, and operating costs. Built with anti-corrosion carbon steel or stainless steel and finished with a triple-layer protective coating, the plant is designed for rapid deployment in rural communities, hotels, food and beverage factories, manufacturing plants, restaurants, residential complexes, energy and mining sites, and municipal projects. OEM/ODM configurations are available to match local discharge standards, site conditions, and water-quality targets.

What Is an MBBR System?

MBBR (Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor) is an advanced biological wastewater treatment process that uses suspended biofilm carriers — also known as biological filler media — as a surface for microorganisms to grow and thrive. During operation, aeration keeps the carriers in continuous motion inside the reaction tank. Wastewater flows tortuously through the gaps between the carriers, ensuring full contact between the active biofilm and the pollutants. This hybrid design combines the strengths of both attached-growth and suspended-growth processes, significantly improving the removal of organic matter, COD, BOD, and ammonia nitrogen (NH₃-N).

Compared with conventional activated sludge systems, MBBR offers a higher biomass concentration, greater resistance to hydraulic and organic shock loads, and a smaller installation footprint. These advantages translate into stable treatment performance, lower maintenance requirements, improved operational reliability, and reduced excess sludge production.

The MBBR integrated treatment unit packages the core MBBR process together with essential pretreatment, sedimentation, and disinfection stages into one or multiple carbon steel or FRP tanks. The result is a compact, factory-built system that can be installed and commissioned far faster than conventional civil-construction plants.

How the Integrated Treatment Plant Works

The system follows a multi-stage process train designed to meet stringent effluent requirements:

  1. Equalization Tank — Raw influent enters an equalization tank to balance flow and organic load variations before biological treatment.
  1. MBBR Biological Tanks — Wastewater passes through anaerobic, anoxic, and aerobic zones created by the moving biofilm carriers. Different microbial populations degrade organic pollutants and achieve nitrogen and phosphorus removal.
  1. Lamella Settler — Inclined plates enhance solids separation. Settled sludge is collected in the sludge tank for periodic removal or further dewatering.
  1. Treated Water Collection Tank — Partially treated water is collected and pumped to the final polishing stage.
  1. Pressure Sand Filter (PSF) — Removes residual suspended solids and protects downstream equipment.
  1. Activated Carbon Filter (ACF) — Adsorbs residual organics, color, and odor-causing compounds.
  1. UV Disinfection Unit — Ultraviolet disinfection inactivates pathogens and ensures microbial compliance.
  1. Clean Water Storage — Final treated water is stored for safe discharge, irrigation, or reuse.

The entire process is managed by an automatic PLC control system that supports real-time monitoring, one-touch start/stop, and unattended operation, reducing the need for on-site personnel.
